Data Recovery

We can attempt to recover data from a number of storage devices - from floppy disks, hard disks, CD's and DVD's to media cards such as Compact Flash, SD, memory stick and USB sticks etc.
Data can be lost or corrupted for a number of reasons - accidental deletion, system crashes, batteries failing on digital cameras or the CD writing process was interrupted before completion etc.
Providing you have not attempted to write data to the
storage media and the media still works (in the case of a hard disk, it
still spins up) we should be able to recover some or all of your data.
Hard disks are very fragile devices, if they have sustained physical damage, such as drive failure, head crashes, or not spinning up, then the data recovery will need to take place in a "clean room". We do not have this facility at our office, but can arrange for your hard disk to be sent to a facility for attempted recovery. However, these facilities are expensive and recovery could cost over £150 depending on the type of drive failure and amount of data to recover.
How does the data recovery process work?
When you call, we will ask you the type of media you wish us to recover data from. We will also ask the the number of files and names of files, or if you want the whole media recovered.
We use powerful data recovery tools to scan your
media for deleted files and attempt to recover the data you requested.
Recovered data will be written to CD's or DVD's where more
space is required.
You will be required to send your media to us, via recorded delivery, or if you prefer, you can bring it in person,
together with a completed and signed consent form (which you
can download from the left column of this screen). When recovered, we will mail it back to you (or you can collect) along with the CD's or DVD's
containing any recovered data.
In the event of a hard disk requiring recovery, it is best for us to visit you, as the hard disk will need to be carefully removed from your computer, and brought back to the office for
assessment.
We charge a minimum of 1 hours labour and then our standard 30 minute increments. There is no callout fee for this service, unless we have to collect and / or return the media. If we have to mail the media back to you, we do apply and additional charge to cover postage and packing.
NOTICE: Large hard disks and CD's / DVD's can take a
large amount of time to scan, and will therefore result in a
larger cost. However, if the data can not be
recovered, no charge will be made.
